(DIX, IL) — The morning commute this morning on Interstate 57 southbound was stalled for nearly an hour due to a collision between a semi and a garbage truck at milepost 107. Kell and Salem firefighters along with EMS and Marion County ESDA were on the scene of the collision that led to a fire south of 161 on I57 on the southbound side. Numerous first responders were on the scene for the duration of the fire and subsequent cleanup. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals from the scene. No further information is available at this time.
