(Springfield, IL)  —  Illinois American Water plans to carry out its main hydrant flushing in the Metro East this month.  The company says it does this every year to ensure the quality of its water.  The utility is going to use a new type of disinfectant on the mains.  Because of this, the company says customers may notice a stronger chlorine taste or smell in their tap water.  Illinois American Water says customers who experience this have no reason to worry about it.
