Interstate 57 Traffic Crash Injures Two in Williamson County

Marion — A Friday afternoon traffic crash on Interstate 57 near Marion injured both drivers.

88-year-old Bob D. Dallas of Carrier Mills was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash after his 2002 Mercedes Benz collided with a 2017 Hyundai Elentra driven by 65-year-old Donna M. Lebel of Louisville, Ky.

Illinois State Police Reports indicated that both Dallas and Lebel were southbound on Interstate 57 near mile marker 55 at around 1:45 PM. Due to the back up from the construction zone, Lebel reportedly slowed for traffic when Dallas failed to slow enough to avoid the crash, striking the rear of the Hyundai. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene due to damage. One lane of the Interstate was blocked for approximately 30 minutes for crash investigation and scene clean up.

Lebel was transported to a local hospital while Dallas refused treatment at the scene.
