Washington County — A Savannah, Georgia, woman was injured in a traffic crash on Interstate 64 in Washington County on Friday afternoon.

Illinois State Police reports indicate that 25-year-old Kelsia M. Visalli was taken to a local hospital after her 2013 Ford Fusion struck the back of a 2005 Ford F-150 driven by 57-year-old James M. Pope of Thompson Station, Tennesee.

Both drivers were westbound on Interstate 64 near mile marker 58 at the construction zone at around 1:19 PM. The F-150 which had slowed due to traffic backup, was in front of the Fusion. Visalli was distracted from within her vehicle and struck the rear end of the F150. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene due to damage. I64 remained open throughout this incident.

Pope and his passenger, 59-year-old Martha E. Pope, were uninjured. Visalli was was charged with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash.
