Lois Jean Wrolen, 78, of Centralia, took her first step on streets of gold at 10:30 p.m., July 9, 2016. She was born December 29, 1937, in Pinckneyville, the daughter of Milton and Nellie (Harvey) Houghland. On October 16, 1957, in Murphysboro, she married Richard Eugene “Dick” Wrolen, and he preceded her in death on February 16, 2004. She attended Boyd Grade School, and she enjoyed spending time with family, especially Nicholas, whom she has raised, and her two dogs, Baby and Katy. She also enjoyed her flowers, watching hummingbirds, and crocheting. She is survived by three sons, Richard Dean “Rolo” Wrolen of Kentucky, Robert D. Wrolen and wife Lora of Centralia, and Randall Wrolen of Indiana; one daughter, Nellie Long and husband Jayson, who are missionaries with United Pentecostal Church International in Nicaragua; ten grandchildren, Brandon Gibson, Kristina Rogers, David Gibson, Heather Wrolen, Tiffany Elling, Josh Pitts, Joseph Long, Benjamin Long, Jaimie Long, and Nicholas Bennett; sixteen great grandchildren, Emily, Trent, Elexis, Megan, Stephen, Ryan, Trace, Carter, Tyson, Paris, Jaxon, Takoda, Lylah, Tristyn, Madison, and Maysin; one great-great grandson, Brandon; two brothers, Lyle Houghland and wife Margie of DuQuoin, and David Graham and wife Brenda of DuQuoin; three sisters, Brenda Froese and husband John of Belleville, Mary Ann Smith and husband Tom of Centralia, and Loretta Peak and husband Terry of Centralia; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Richard Eugene “Dick” Wrolen, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Joyce Wrolen; and one brother, Fred Graham. Funeral Services for Mrs. Wrolen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Rev. Calvin Jean officiating. Burial will follow at Boyd Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
