(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon City Council met Monday evening.  Among items on the agenda, the Council approved bid results for demolition of 14 properties by Kenneth Hale Excavating for $57,000, for the Phoenix Modular Construction Road by Baxmayer Construction for $62,500, and for phase 2 of Broadway and Main Street water main replacement by J.K. Trotter & Sons for $826,561.50. A permission request to seek proposals for banking services was approved.  The city manager presented the latest capital projects report.  The city attorney sought a resolution supporting the community garden that was approved.  The council also heard a first reading of an ordinance restructuring police department ranks regarding an elimination of a captain position, which was also approved.
