MOUNT VERNON — A bomb threat Friday night resulted in employees at Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon being evacuated.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, they received a call saying a bomb at the facility was set to go off at 8:30 p.m. Friday, and workers at the facility were quickly evacuated.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and the Secretary of State Police Bomb Squad also also called in.

Authorities report that the facility was searched and nothing was found.

The incident remains under investigation.
