(MARION COUNTY, IL) — Marion County EMS along with Iuka fire and emergency personnel responded to an emergency call Wednesday night, delivering a healthy baby girl in the back of an ambulance. According to Marion County EMS, their crews were dispatched Wednesday night to Iuka for a report of a woman in labor. Iuka EMS and Fire Protection also responded to the call. During the transport to SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, it became clear that the baby’s delivery was imminent, so the ambulance stopped on the southbound entrance ramp and called for a second EMS unit as their patient count was about to increase. At 10:03 p.m. baby girl Aryana Jane Hurd was born in the back of the ambulance. EMS crews say that while they assisted in the delivery, it is safe to say that the mother Jennifer Roberson did most of the work. Baby Aryana was born healthy with no complications, weighing 6 lbs 15 oz, and 19.5 inches long. The entire team at Marion County EMS is wishing all the best for Baby Aryana, nother Jennifer, and father Ian Hurd. Marion County EMS thanks the Iuka Fire Department who sent first responder staff with their EMS crew, as well as the Salem Police Department and Marion County Sheriff Department for keeping the ambulance crew and the family safe while working on a roadway. In honor of Aryana’s ambulance entry into this world, Marion County EMS will be placing a pink stork decal on her ambulance.
