(MARION, IL) — A man is being held in the Williamson County Jail for allegedly shooting his brother over a property dispute Monday night in the Creal Springs area. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says shortly before 9, Williamson County 911 received a call from 68-year-old Clive Lemasters stating his brother, 48-year-old Gene Lemasters, was removing their sister’s car from a garage whose ownership is in dispute. During the 911 call, Clive Lemasters said he was going to get his shotgun and stop his brother. A few minutes later, 911 got a call stating Gene Lamasters had been shot by his brother. When deputies arrived they spoke with Gene Lemasters, who was conscious and alert, and members of his family. They also found Clive Lemasters and placed him into custody. Gene Lemasters was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his wounds. Clive Lemasters was also taken to an area hospital after complaining of a medical issue. After treatment, Clive Lemasters was taken to the Williamson County Jail. He is charged with aggravated domestic battery with a firearm and is being held pending a court appearance. The sheriff’s office has dealt with the Lemasters family several times concerning the civil issue of who claims ownership of the garage.
