(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon City Council met Monday evening. Among items on a busy agenda, the council discussed granting permission to seek bids for a lawn mower and for the North 27^th Street Reconstruction project, and a resolution requesting IDOT approve temporary closures of westbound Illinois Route 15 from Marlow Road to the junction of Illinois Route 15 and Old Route 15 for the purpose of “Salute To Freedom” Fireworks on July 4, 2016.  A motion directing the City Manager to draft an ordinance amending “Open Burning” to allow 8 days a year for landscape waste burning has been tabled to a later date.
