(OZARK, IL) –There will be a prescribed burn in the Shawnee National Forest today, weather permitting. The U.S. Forest Service says the fire will be located in the Jackson Falls area, about 6 miles southeast of Ozark. The prescribed fire area involves about 130 acres. Fire personnel will carefully monitor smoke being generated during the prescribed burn. You can expect the bulk of smoke to be visible in mid-afternoon and dissipate after dark. Smoke will likely be most noticeable around the nearby communities.
