Effingham, IL – The Illinois State Police (ISP) District 12 has released enforcement figures from the Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols which were conducted on Saturday, March 12th in Fayette and Marion Counties. Authorities issued 50 total citations and 6 warnings including 30 safety belt citations and 4 child restraint citations. Most motorists know safety belts save lives, but some ignore their safety and that of their families by neglecting to use safety belts and child restraint devices.  These patrols reinforce the occupant protection message by targeting those who choose to ignore the law.  Lives can be saved if people simply buckle up!  This project was funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
