(SALEM, IL) — A 19-year-old Belleville man has pleaded guilty in Marion County Court to the 2014 armed robbery of the Casey’s General Store in Sandoval. Chad Lidisky pleaded guilty to Class 1 felony attempted armed robbery with a firearm, in exchange for the originally charged Class X felony armed robbery count being dismissed. He is scheduled for a June 8 sentencing hearing in that case following the completion of a pre-sentencing investigation. The robbery occurred in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve in 2014, when two men – one armed with a gun and another armed with a police issued Taser — entered the Casey’s store and fled with money as well as cigarettes and chewing tobacco. The Sandoval robbery was part of a crime spree involving Lidisky and others during the 2014-2015 holiday season. Lidisky was first arrested in connection with a crime spree involving a group of other teens that ended in two others in the group being arrested on charges that they shot a Keyesport tavern owner on New Year’s Day. He was sentenced last spring to 204 days in jail, with credit for 102 days served in the Clinton County Jail, and day-for-day to apply. According to Clinton County State’s Attorney John Hudspeth, the charges against Lidisky stemmed from alleged incidents on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day, in St. Rose, during which vehicles were taken, and another vehicle was entered and items taken.
