(MT. VERNON, IL) — Two men were arrested Wednesday after Mt. Vernon Police responded to a domestic battery report in the 4000 block of Willow Springs. Arrested were 42 year old Anthony L Gibbs of Carbondale on charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Domestic Battery (Strangulation), Unlawful Restraint, Possession of a Firearm / Ammo without a FOID Card, and Interfering with a Report of Domestic Violence and 21 year old Trayvon D Moore-McFadden of San Diego, California on charges of Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Firearm / Ammo without a FOID Card, Obstructing a Peace Officer, and Possession of Cannabis 30-500 grams. During the course of the investigation the officers suspected illegally possessed weapons were located inside the apartment of 4042 Willow Springs. During a consented search of the apartment the officers located a 38 caliber handgun, stolen 12 gauge shotgun, ammunition, and cannabis. Both have been incarcerated in the Jefferson County Justice Center with bond to be set. Gibbs and Moore-McFadden are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
