(MT. VERNON, IL) — A 22-year-old Mt. Vernon man was sentenced Wednesday in Jefferson County Court to 15-years in prison after he pleaded guilty to one of two meth-related felony charges against him. Levi Perrine was on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections when he was arrested in December along with 28-year-old Patricia Henry. The pair was arrested after officers responded to an anonymous complaint of suspicious odors home coming from a home the 1300 block of South 12th Street in Mt. Vernon and discovered methamphetamine, multiple methamphetamine labs, chemicals used in the production of methamphetamine, and discarded items from previous lab productions. Three children in the home at the time were taken into state custody and transported to a local hospital for medical checkups. Perrine was initially charged with Class X felony manufacture of more than 900 grams of methamphetamine, which was amended to Class X felony manufacture of between 15 and 100 grams of meth to which he pleaded guilty. He was also charged with Class 2 felony possession of less than 15 grams of meth precursors, which was dismissed per his plea agreement. Henry pleaded guilty last month to Class 2 felony meth-related child endangerment and was sentenced to 5-years in prison in exchange for charges of Class X manufacture of more than 900 grams of meth and Class 2 felony possession of less than 15 grams of meth precursors being dismissed.
