(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon Police Department arrested three individuals Saturday after a receiving a report of gun shots fired. At around 10:50 p.m., authorities responded to the area of the 700 block of South 21st Street and took 22 year old Chalar Taylor, 22 year old Tyrane Jackson, and 30 year old Taccarra Young into custody on charges of Manufacture / Delivery of Cannabis (30 – 500 Grams) and Possession of a Stolen Firearm after officers began searching the area for evidence and began interviewing people in the area. Mt Vernon Detectives and a Mt Vernon Crime Scene Technician were called in to assist the patrol officers. During a search of the residence a stolen 45 caliber handgun and cannabis packaged for sale were located inside the residence. All three subjects were transported to the Jefferson County Justice Center and held pending a setting of bond. All three persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
