(Benton, IL) — A two-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Franklin County sent two people to the hospital. Illinois State Police say just after 8:30, 30-year-old Brendan A. Wollard of Carterville was driving his car on northbound I-57 and exited to get onto Illinois Route 14 at Benton. As Wollard was approaching the intersection at the top of the ramp, another car – driven by 38-year-old Jennifer N. Sullivan of Thompsonville – was going east on Illinois Route 14 approaching the same intersection. Wollard failed to stop at the red light and drove into the intersection striking Sullivan’s vehicle in the right front corner causing major damage to both vehicles. Wollard was not hurt. Sullivan and her 4-year-old female passenger both suffered incapacitating injuries and were taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Wollard was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a traffic control device.
