(GEFF, IL) — The 32nd annual Corn Growers Seminar has been set for Friday January 8th, in the Ruritan building in Geff. The seminar is free and open to the public, according to Gregg Barnard, Wayne County Corn Growers president. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with coffee and rolls. The program starts at 9 a.m. Loren Brooks, Regional Director with Clear2there, Wayne County Sherriff Mike Everett, Jean Payne, president of the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association, Dr. Bob Hoeft, Emeritus Professor from the University of Illinois, Department of Crop Sciences will present in the morning. A free fried chicken and roast beef dinner will be served at noon by the Ruritans. Following lunch, Martin Barbre, Chairman of the National Corn Growers, Sen. Dale Righter and State Rep. David Reis, and Kim Holsapple, grain manager/merchandiser with Total Grain Marketing will present in the afternoon. This annual seminar is sponsored by the Wayne County Corn Growers and University of Illinois Extension, in conjunction with the following local agribusinesses: Asgrow/DeKalb, Bayer Crop Sciences, Consolidated Grain & Barge, DuPont Crop Protection, Fairfield National Bank & Bean Capital Banking Center, Monsanto, DuPont Pioneer, Syngenta Crop Protection, Syngenta Seeds, Valent, and Wayne-White Electric Cooperative.
