Carolyn Sue “Susie” Kimmel, age 70, of Woodlawn passed away 5:50 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015 at her home.
Susie was born February 5, 1945 in Centralia, Illinois the daughter of Sherman George Pursley and Dorothy Helena (Donoho) Pursley. She married Quintin Larry Kimmel on March 25, 1988 in Paducah, Kentucky and he survives in Woodlawn.
Mrs. Kimmel had worked at Miss Elaine’s Dress Factory in Centralia and later for the Old National Bank in Centralia. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Susie is survived by her husband, Quintin Kimmel of Woodlawn; two daughters, Cheryl Lopez and husband Zeke of Mt. Vernon and Teresa Hoyt and husband George of Walnut Hill; stepson, Carey Kimmel of French Lick, Indiana; five grandchildren, Ashley Hoffman and husband Doug of Mt. Vernon, Mathew Piercy and wife Lindsay of Mt. Vernon, Collin Hoyt of Walnut Hill, Kelsey Hoyt of Walnut Hill, and Alexandria Kimmel of Gary, Indiana; and three great grandchildren, Jackson Piercy, Loralye Piercy, and Andrew Hoffman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, Billy Pursley; brother, Robert Pursley; two sisters, Norma Lawson and Marnell Mayes.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2015 at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Aaron Trotter officiating. Interment will follow at Boyd Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
