(CENTRALIA, IL) — A 66-year-old Centralia man is in the Marion County Jail, after approximately 10 pounds of cannabis was reportedly found drying in his garage. Jerry Kapes, owner of Roundhouse Wine Company, was arrested for manufacture and delivery and possession with intent to deliver cannabis, after officers had gone to the home looking for another person wanted for questioning in a separate criminal case. Centralia police reportedly first smelled cannabis and then noticed it drying in the garage of the Kapes home when they looked through the window. Police reportedly received permission to search the Kapes home, and found a small amount of cannabis in a bedroom dresser. Kapes reportedly told officers he had planted four marijuana plants in May in a field off Norton Road and harvested the plants a week ago. He told officers he had decided to sell cannabis to pay bills.
