Washington, D.C.— Rep. Mike Bost announced on Thursday a grant in the amount of $3,587,052 to reconstruct a stretch of Front Street in East St. Louis. The grant was issued by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) under the Department of Commerce. “This is an example of how a public-private partnership can benefit the community by spurring economic development and revitalization,” said Rep. Bost. “This infrastructure project is critical for helping and promoting small businesses in this region.” The funding will help rebuild and enhance Front Street, Missouri Avenue and B Street, in addition to adjacent streets that will also be resurfaced and widened in East St. Louis. The public-private partnership is made possible by the Casino Queen, Bunge-SCF, and Cargill each contributing $500,000 toward the project which has a total cost of close to $8 million.
