(MT. VERNON, IL) — The City of Mt. Vernon will begin road construction on North 42nd Street between Victoria Avenue and Richview Road next week. Motorists should expect daytime road closures starting Tuesday. Details of when the full time road closure occurs will be announced when more information is known. Motorists are encouraged to use Shiloh Drive and North 27th Street as alternate routes during the road closures. Properties along North 42nd Street will be accessible from either the north or the south at all times.
