(Belleville, IL) — Two Metro East labor unions have reached tentative contract deals after one brief strike and another threatened walkout. Eighty members of the Teamsters Union Local 50 are back at work after a week on the picket line, meaning ready-mix concrete deliveries have resumed. Meanwhile, contractors say the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 101 have agreed to a deal affecting more than three-hundred members, though the union hasn’t confirmed the settlement pending a membership vote. The union’s website says members should report to work and plans to picket are called off.
