(SUNFIELD, IL) — A 75-year-old Dubois man was killed in a traffic crash Friday on Illinois Route 154 in Perry County. Alan Ray Bowers was operating a John Deere 5420 Farm Tractor pulling a homemade flatbed trailer eastbound about a half mile east of U.S. 51 when he was struck from behind by a 2014 Freightliner semi-truck driven by 47-year-old Samuel R. Latham of Rockford. Bowers was thrown from the tractor and landed on the roadway, sustaining major injuries. He was transported to a local hospital via ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries. Samuel Latham was charged with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
