Okawville, Ill. – State Sen. Dave Luechtefeld (R-Okawville) and State Rep. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) are hosting a Senior Health and Information Fair at the Rolland Lewis Community Building on Tuesday July 28, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. All interested senior citizens in the Mt. Vernon area are invited to attend for information and demonstrations on important quality-of-life issues. Local healthcare organizations will be providing blood pressure testing, pulse oximetry tests, body mass index screenings, and wellness screenings. There will also be blood sugar screenings and diabetes testing, with no fasting required. Memory screenings will also be conducted. Specialists will also be able to fix minor eye glasses issues and lens cleaning will be provided. Audiologists and hearing specialists will be in attendance to discuss hearing-aid information and provide video otoscope ear exams. The Illinois Treasurer’s Office will have the I-Cash database available for interested residents to look for unclaimed checks or property. Government agencies will be on hand to provide information about scams and fraud that target senior citizens, prescription and insurance programs, veterans’ benefits, smoking cessation, immunizations and many other programs.
