(West Frankfort, IL) — A West Frankfort program designed to help people with low incomes with their cooling costs is running into a rough patch. The Crosswalk Community Action Agency is not getting any funding from the state due to the budget crisis. The southern Illinois organization also had to lay off nine of their workers. When Crosswalk was able to help, it put 150-dollars in the Ameren Electric account of those who struggled with paying their bills.
