(Mt. Vernon, IL) — Police in Jefferson County have a new plan on how to curb drug use. Sheriff Travis Allen told WSIL-TV that criminals facing probation now will have tougher guidelines. He adds that under the new regulations, a person on probation will sign away their right to turn down a search. Under the old rules, police were not able to search property of a person on probation, without probable cause and a search warrant.
