(Edwardsville, IL) — A Madison County man is being charged following a shooting that left him and a police officer hurt. Authorities were serving a search warrant Wednesday at the Edwardsville home of Jay Hanks as part of a child pornography investigation. Police say Hanks pulled out a gun which lead to a struggle between him and an officer. A Madison County deputy fired his weapon, hitting the officer in the hand and Hanks in the face. The 42-year-old is facing multiple charges including aggravated assault, armed violence and child pornography.
