(BENTON, IL ) — Two southern Illinois residents were charged and appeared in U.S. District Court in Benton today on child pornography offenses that allegedly happened in Perry and Williamson counties. U.S. Attorney Stephen Wigginton says 25-year-old Aaron Michael Amann of DuQuoin and 31-year-old Collin A. Smith of Cambria were charged in separate cases with using a computer to access and download child pornography images from the internet. The offenses carry a maximum penalty of at least 30 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and a lifetime of supervised release.
