(SESSER, IL) — Sesser Mayor Jason Ashmore announced on the city’s Facebook page over the weekend that the city has received a $271,000 grant for the city park from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Ashmore says the money will be used to completely redo the tennis courts including the pavement, fence and lights and there will be a sand volleyball court. He says plans also call for a parking lot with a sidewalk that will be up to code with persons with disabilities. A small road will also be built into the parking lot. The park’s bathrooms will also be upgraded. The mayor says it’s not known at this time as to when the improvement will be done. He thanked Gov. Pat Quinn and Senator Gary Forby and all of the employees at IDNR for their help getting this grant.
