Carmi, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) District 19 announced the results of a Nighttime Enforcement Patrol (NITE) held during the late evening hours of Friday, 11/28/14, and early morning hours of Saturday, 11/29/14. The patrol was conducted in Saline County by ISP District 19 officers. Alcohol is involved in over 40 percent of fatal crashes in Illinois. NITE patrols are designed to keep our roads safe by removing alcohol-impaired drivers. However, when other violations are observed, such as driving with a suspended or revoked license, operating a vehicle without a valid registration or insurance, or safety belt violations, enforcement action may be taken. During the patrol, authorities issued 13 total citations or arrests and 50 total written warnings, including 4 registration offenses, a drivers license offense, a DUI arrest, and another alcohol/drug arrest. There were no occupant restraint citations issued at this patrol. This project was funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Transportation Safety.
