CENTRALIA — Centralia police have arrested a 48-year-old man and three juvenile males in connection with the beating earlier this month of a 15-year-old boy on a Centralia street.

According to Police Chief Brian Atchison, Christopher James was arrested Saturday for alleged mob action and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm for the August 5th beating. He was taken to the Marion County Jail where he remained Monday morning.

A 14-year-old and two 17-year-old juveniles were arrested on the same charges. They were taken to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.

Atchison says it has been determined that the 15 year old victim of the crime has sustained permanent injuries as a result of the battery and is still hospitalized at this time.

Good Samaritan’s stopped to help the young victim after they reportedly witnessed the 15-year-old being beaten by a group of men near the intersection of Kerr and Lincoln streets.

A bicycle or other blunt object is believed to have caused the boys most serious injuries.
