BENTON — A 30-year-old Fairfield man appeared at a detention hearing Monday in federal court in Benton on a seven count federal indictment on child pornography charges.

Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigations arrested Christopher Zachman earlier this month while he was working in Mt. Vernon.

The indictment charges him with one count possession of child pornography, three counts receiving child pornography and three counts distribution of child pornography.

The indictment claims Zachman possessed, received and distributed through the internet, visual depictions of children under the age of 12 and some as young as 3-years-old in explicit sexual situations.

Zachman remains in federal custody with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for April 23 at the federal court in Benton.
