An estimated 800 children received backpacks and school supplies during a giveaway Saturday at Calumet Street Christian Church in Centralia. Organizers have operated the program for 10 years, using community donations to buy the supplies. They say the goal is to make sure local children return to school prepared with everything they need for the year.
