MARION COUNTY — A second person has been arrested in connection with the May Fourth crash in Salem that claimed the life of 66-year-old Salem woman Nita Mobley.

The 21-year-old driver of the pickup truck that struck Mobley’s car, Justin Bullard, of Iuka, was arrested Tuesday on a $1 million warrant charging him with murder, street racing, aggravated DUI resulting in the death of another, and reckless homicide.

A second driver, 27-year-old Derrik Coomer, of Salem, was formally charged in Marion County Court Wednesday with aggravated reckless driving resulting in bodily harm.  Coomer was allegedly involved in the ‘street racing’ incident prior to the crash. Bond was set in Coomer’s case at $250,000.

Bullard and his 25-year-old passenger, Austin Back, were airlifted to St. Louis area hospitals following the crash. Bullard was issued a citation for DUI alcohol and given a notice to appear next month.

Bullard was initially charged with DUI alcohol in connection with the crash but was arrested Tuesday night on the warrant charging him with murder.

Crash reports indicated Mobley was attempting to turn left from West Main onto South Hotze Road when a pickup truck being driven eastbound on West Main by Bullard struck her car, causing it to burst into flames.
