Glenda Louise Kohute, 80, of Nason, Illinois, passed away at 3:16 pm May 14, 2022 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

She was born December 8, 1941 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late William and Mary (Chamness) England.

Glenda married Albert Eugene “Gene” Kohute. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2004.

Glenda is survived by her children, Eric Kohute of Spokane, Washington, Lisa McKowen and husband, Nolan Lee of Haubstadt, Indiana, and Michael Kohute and wife, April of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Debra Kohute Jones; grandchildren, Jerad Kohute of Pana, Illinois, Julian Kersey of Spokane, Washington, Dustin Kohute of Yakima, Washington, Derick Kohute and wife, Alyssa of Surprise, Arizona, Dan Kohute of Spokane, Washington, Hunter Kohute of Largo, Florida, Ashley Spainhoward and husband, Alex of Evansville, Indiana, Ethan Kohute and Charesa of Ewing, Illinois, Tyler McKowen and wife, Adrianne of Princeton, Indiana, and Krysta Billington and husband, Arron of Cisne, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Carter (Kohute) Mick of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Aliana Kohute of Pana, Illinois, Aribella Kohute of Surprise, Arizona, Greyson McKowen of Princeton, Indiana, and a baby girl expected in September, Jasper Kersey of Spokane, Washington; special nephews, Steve England and Billy England; special nieces, Judy Potter, Abby Newell, Paula England, Marta Coleman, and Cindy Thaxton; and sister-in-law, Phyllis England. In addition to her parents and husband, Glenda was preceded in death by her siblings, William “Weep” England, Allen “Chuck” England, Charles England, Mary Ellen (England) Phillips, Jess England, Robert “Bob” England, Jerry “Mac” England, and Donald England.

Glenda was a member of East Side Baptist Church. She worked at Western Sizzlin’ Steakhouse for 25 years and later worked at the Dollar Tree. Glenda enjoyed interacting with her customers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Glenda will be deeply missed.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Old Shiloh Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Glenda’s honor to Old Shiloh Cemetery or Lifeboat Alliance Family Shelter.
