CLINTON COUNTY, IL — A 30-year-old Carlyle man is being held in the Clinton County Jail with bond set at half-a-million dollars after he was charged with multiple child sex offenses. Michael Parker is charged in Clinton County Circuit Court with two Class X felonies for predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13 and two Class 2 felony charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child under the age of 9.

The charges reportedly stem from incidents last summer. After hearing information in the case, Judge Christopher Matoush noted a monetary bond was necessary in the case and set the amount at $500,000. He also ordered Parker abstain from drugs and alcohol and to submit to random testing, that he have no contact with the alleged victim or anyone under the age of 18.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Monday along with a first appearance with Parker’s court appointed lawyer.
