MARION COUNTY, IL — Multiple people were airlifted from the scene of a head-on collision Monday around 7pm on Route 50 between Salem and Iuka.

Illinois State Police have reported a total of 6 people were injured in a two-vehicle crash where a 17-year-old female juvenile from Flora crossed the centerline for unknown reasons while traveling west on route 50 between the Kinmundy and Metcalf Roads east of Salem and crashed into an SUV driven by 30-year-old Courtney Evilsizer of Centralia. Both drivers as well as an 8-year-old in the Evilsizer vehicle had to be airlifted from the scene for treatment of injuries. Other passengers in the Evilsizer vehicle 36-year-old Joe Evilsizer, a 9-year-old, and a 5-year-old girl all from Centralia were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Flora juvenile was ticketed for Improper Lane Usage, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash.
