MT. VERNON, IL — A 41-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested after suspicions of child pornography activity were sent to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office last Thursday.

The Sheriff’s Office Detective Division received information through the Internet Crimes against Children Task Force of suspected child pornography activity in Jefferson County. They revealed evidence sufficient for a search warrant for records of the internet service provider involved in the matter. After service of the warrant, detectives obtained evidence on Tuesday, July 27th identifying a suspect as Brandon F. Page. Law enforcement located Page at his residence and conducted a second search warrant execution to locate evidence leading to the arrest of Page for Possession of Child Pornography.

Page was formally charged Wednesday with Class X felony possession of child pornography depicting a victim under the age of 13. Bail has been set at $100,000.

Probable cause was found in court Wednesday morning to detain Page. He was advised of the charge against him, possible sentencing if convicted and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 25 along with a first appearance with a court-appointed public defender.
