Edith Marie Haas, 92, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Hamilton Memorial Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in McLeansboro.

She was born March 30, 1929 in McLeansboro to Pete & Clara (Engel) Frey.  On August 29, 1950 she married George A. “Sonny” Haas, who preceded her in death on May 1, 2015.

Edith was a beautician who owned her own beauty shop, which she ran at her home in McLeansboro for 50 years.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, taking care of her kids, and spending time with her family & friends.  She was a member of the St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in McLeansboro.

Edith is survived by 3 sons: Don (Judy) Haas of Powell, TN; David (Carla) Haas of Estero, FL and Dennis (and Kim Laswell) Haas of McLeansboro, a daughter Denise (Robert) Hastings of Dahlgren, IL; seven grandchildren: Chris Haas, Brian Haas, Lindsey (John) Turner, Derek Haas, Deanna (Joe) Kueny, Jacob Haas and Heath (Casey) Hastings; two great-grandchildren: Campbell Turner and Conley Turner; two step-grandsons, several step-grandchildren, and a special friend Teresa Haas.

She was preceded in death by both parents, and her husband George A. “Sonny” Haas.

Funeral Services for Edith Marie Haas will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the Chapel of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in McLeansboro with Father Slawomir Ptak officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9 am until the time of service at 11 am at the church.  In lieu of flowers, a Spiritual Bouquet may be made to the St. Clement of Rome Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at the St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church or at Gholson Funeral Home, which has been entrusted to provide arrangements.
