Betty Rose Lusby, 94, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 4:58 am July 21, 2021 at Mount Vernon Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born August 23, 1926 in Woodlawn, Illinois to the late Albert and Dama (Reynolds) Moore. Betty married Charles Richard Lusby on June 3, 1946 in Woodlawn, Illinois and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2014.

Betty is survived by her children, Mike Lusby and wife Marilyn of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Dan Lusby and wife, Brenda of Woodlawn, Illinois, David Lusby and wife, Jacque of Granite City, Illinois, and Sandi Brown and husband, Jerry of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Tammy Lane and husband, Jamie, Kevin Lusby and wife, Julie, Brian Lusby and wife, Jennifer, Jason Lusby, Kelley Taylor and husband, Clint, Jacob Lusby and wife Kendra, Jesse Lusby, Jennifer Anderson and husband, Brett, and Jerod Brown and wife, Chelsey; great-grandchildren, Kody Lane, Kory Lane and wife, Blake, Kourtney Lane, Emily Shumm and husband, Eric, Madalyn Lusby, Jordan Lusby, Jamie Lusby, Tucker Taylor, Taytum Taylor, Wyatt Lusby, Maybry Rose Lusby, Colton Anderson, and Conner Anderson; great-great-grandson, Treydon Gentry and great-great-granddaughter, Viviene due in September; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband of sixty-eight years, Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, Maxine Trout, Nina Bourland, Faye Adomat, Peggy England, Mary Lou Kiefer, and Billy Bob Moore and special niece, Pat Martin.

Betty was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Woodlawn, where she volunteered in the food pantry and held the proud title of “official food pantry greeter”. She enjoyed cooking and baking cookies and would take cookies with her everywhere she went to hand out to church family and other members of the community.  She loved being involved in the singing group, the Five Notes.  Some of her most enjoyable time was spent crocheting blankets as baby gifts for family and friends, fishing, and traveling with her husband.  She is deeply loved by her many friends and family members and will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Friday, July 23, 2021 from 10:00 am to11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Woodlawn, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Reverend Merle Fullerton and Pastor Brian Fuller officiating. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Betty’s honor to the First Baptist Church of Woodlawn Food Pantry.
