MARION COUNTY, IL — Bail has been set at $10,000 for a 50-year-old Salem woman accused in Marion County Court with battery of her mother. Marjorie Woodward is charged with Class 3 felony aggravated battery of a victim over the age of 60, as well as with misdemeanor resisting a peace officer.
Salem police arrested Woodward after they were called to a home in the 500 block of East Olive in Salem. Upon their arrival, officers reportedly found the two women fighting. Woodward reportedly refused officers’ commands to stop fighting and when they attempted to pull her away from her mother Woodward allegedly began scuffling with the officers before she was handcuffed. While no officers were injured in the incident, Woodward’s mother was taken to Salem Township Hospital where she was treated and released.
Woodward is next due to appear in Marion County Court May 18th for a preliminary hearing and a first appearance with her court appointed attorney.
