Caleb A. Holtz, 35, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on April 23, 2021 at his residence. He was born June 26, 1985 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Joseph Holtz and Beth (Hampton) Lovin.

Caleb is survived by his mom and dad, John and Beth Lovin of Belle Rive, Illinois, Joe and Megan Holtz of DuQuoin, Illinois; sister, Casey (Jacob) Goodwin of Scheller, Illinois; brothers, James (Michelle) Lovin of Nashville, Illinois, John H.  Lovin of Nashville, Illinois; grandparents, Nelson Hampton, Nicki Gream, Betty Glover; nephews and nieces, Spencer, Isabelle, Sophia, Annie, Clover, and Jacob; uncles and aunts, Andrew (Scottie) Hampton, Dustin (Stefanie) Hampton, Warren “Bunk” (Ginger) Holtz, Steve (Bonnie) Holtz; and most importantly his fur babies, Max and Tawanda.

Caleb was preceded in death by his grandpa, Gene Gream and his beloved dog, Leo.

Caleb proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, enlisting in 2004.

Caleb enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs. He loved a good flea market or antique store and spent many hours with his parents looking for a “must have.” Caleb was a loyal son and friend to all and could always be counted on anytime of the day or night.

Caleb was a member of  Camp Ground Baptist Church.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Reverend Dan Lovin officiating. Memorials may be made in Caleb’s honor to Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
