WEST FRANKFORT, IL — An Eldorado man is charged with first-degree murder in connection with a Thursday night stabbing in rural West Frankfort. Franklin County Sheriff David Bartoni says 33-year-old Heath M. Dunning is being held in the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $2 million bond.

Around 8:40 Thursday night, deputies received a report of a stabbing in rural West Frankfort. When deputies arrived, they found a 50-year-old man suffering from a stab wound. The man succumb to his injuries at the scene. Dunning was taken into custody at the scene.

A subsequent investigation Friday resulted in Dunning being charged with first-degree murder. The victim’s name is not being released until family members are notified.
