MT. VERNON, IL — The first leaf burning week in Mt. Vernon this spring is set for the second full week of April from the 12th through Sunday the 18th. Mt. Vernon Fire Chief Kevin Sargent says a leaf burning fire is permitted between the hours of sunrise and sunset each of those days.
