MT. VERNON, IL — The Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office High Risk Team arrested five Mt. Vernon residents at 2 different locations on drug charges during the early morning hours Wednesday.

Law enforcement served two narcotics search warrants at 232 Opdyke and 105 E Opdyke. Quantities of methamphetamine, a large amount of illegal cannabis for distribution, drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of currency were located at both homes.

45-year-old Roy Kimber and 46-year-old Tesha Howard were taken into custody from the 232 address for Possession of less than 5 grams of Methamphetamine, Possession of Cannabis between 500 to 2000g with intent to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At the 105 E Opdyke location, 56-year-old John Phillips and 21-year-old Brynt Long were both arrested for Possession of less than 5g of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. It was discovered that 34-year-old Lindsey Bradford who was at that residence, had a Jefferson County no bond warrant for failure to appear/petition on a previous possession of methamphetamine charge. She was taken into custody on that warrant plus the same charges as Phillips and Long.

Bond for all subjects is to be set in Jefferson County Court.
