OLNEY, IL — A 60-year-old Dundas, IL man has been charged in Richland County Court with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of two women struck by a vehicle at an establishment in Olney. Michael Mattox has been charged after the pickup truck he was driving proceeded through the intersection of North Avenue and West Street just before 8 p.m. on December 26th.

The truck struck and killed 48-year-old DeAnn Richardson and 69-year-old Judy Jourdan, both of Olney. The women were standing on the patio of Deuce’s Wild Saloon.

Mattox was originally arrested on charges that included aggravated DUI, but the murder counts, along with a charge of aggravated battery at a public place were added following an investigation. Bond for Mattox was set at $1.5 million during a court appearance on Thursday.

Mattox is scheduled for a preliminary hearing the morning of January 21st.
