Morris H. Bechtel, 84, of Woodlawn, Illinois, passed away at 9:41 am November 20, 2020 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Earl and Irma (Snodsmith) Bechtel. Morris married Dorothy (Weisbecker) Bechtel on July 2, 1955 in Woodlawn. They had just celebrated 56 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on August 13, 2011. Morris is survived by his children, Frank Bechtel and wife, Joyce of Arthur, Illinois, Ky Bechtel and wife, Phyllis of Mount Vernon, and Mary Ellen Bechtel of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Neesa Hayse and husband, Roger of Woodlawn, JoEllen Blye and husband, Darius of Metropolis, Illinois, Brittany Bechtel and fiancé, Cody Benjamin of Mount Vernon, Phillip Bechtel and wife, Vanessa of Champaign, Illinois, Emily Bechtel of San Diego, California, Leah Bechtel Oganda and husband, Pius of Indianapolis, Indiana, Macie Bechtel of Mount Vernon, Cayden Bechtel of Arthur, Illinois, Kyle Waldon and wife, Alexis of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Tiffany Holder and husband, Seth of Texico, Illinois; several great-grandchildren; nephews, John Campbell and wife, Connie of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Myron Bechtel and wife, Becky of Florida; and sisters, Mary Antoinette Campbell of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.In addition to his parents and wife, Morris was preceded in death by his brother, Elwyn Bechtel.  Morris was the owner and operator of B   W Supply in Mount Vernon. He was a faithful member of Fouts Christian Church. Morris’ greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. A private graveside service will be held at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Woodlawn, Illinois. Interment will follow.
