Do Spoilers Spoil Box Office Revenue?

If something in a movie is spoiled for you before you can see it, it may harm your movie watching experience.

BUT apparently, spoilers actually can HELP a movie’s performance in the box office.

Some researchers from Western University and the University of Houston found that spoilers positively impact a movie’s box office performance.

This is because spoilers can give moviegoers “plot-related content” to help them decide to see the movie or not.

So long story short, spoilers are being used to reduce the uncertainty in movies.
