ANNA, IL —- Some employees of the Choate Mental Health Developmental Center in Anna have been arrested on charges related to incidents at the facility.

According to a press release from Illinois State Police, an ISP Division of Internal Investigation led to the arrest of 33-year-old Bobby Lee of Marion, 40-year-old Johnny Brimm of Jonesboro, 29-year-old Dalton Anderson of Jonesboro and 28-year-old Matthew Wiseman of Marion. They are all charged with aggravated battery – a Class 3 felony. Wiseman and Brimm were also charged with obstructing justice – a Class 4 felony.

On May 18, the Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigation was requested by IDHS staff to investigate a possible aggravated battery to one of the facility’s residents. After a comprehensive, cooperative investigation involving IDHS, and led by ISP, Union County State’s Attorney Daniel Klingemann’s Office secured indictments on Sept. 30 for the four men.

ISP arrested Brimm and Anderson on Oct. 6 and were lodged in the Union County Jail. Bond on the warrants for their charges was set at $30,000, 10 percent to apply by a Union County judge.

Lee was also arrested by ISP also on Oct. 6 and lodged in the Williamson County Jail awaiting extradition to Union County. Bond of the warrant for the above charge was set at $30,000, 10 percent to apply by a Union County judge.

Wiseman was taken into custody by ISP on Oct. 6 and lodged in the Union County jail. Bond on the warrants for the above charges was set at $30,000, 10 percent to apply, by a Union County judge.

The aggravated battery charge has a possible sentence of two to five years in prison while the obstructing justice charged has a possible sentence of one to three years.

This case has been turned over to the Union County State’s Attorney and no additional information is available for release by ISP.

Meanwhile, another Choate Mental Health employee, 38-year-old Kevin Jackson of Carbondale, has been charged with aggravated battery – a Class 3 felony – to one of the facilities residents.
